Importance of Protien & Healthy Oils
Protein is the building block of life! While your body is only capable of partially creating its own protein, nearly half of all protein in the body is required from the diet. Your skin, tendons, bones, ligaments, organs, blood vessels, immune cells, enzymes and especially your muscles are all composed largely of protein. Without an adequate supply, you can expect deterioration and wasting of these various tissues, leading to pre-mature aging of your body both inside and out. Slow wound healing, food cravings, and a decline in skin quality are also the resulting effects of poor protein intake. Inadequate dietary protein will also cause muscle wasting, which over time will lower your resting metabolism and contribute to fat gain. It can be difficult ensure that you’re getting an optimal amount of protein, but smoothies are a simple and effective way of feeding your body high quality protein, as a simple, easy-to-drink solution.
Healthy fats that contain essential oils omega 3 and 6, as well as other beneficial oils such as omega 7 and omega 9 can have a tremendous impact on cardiovascular health, by lowering LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, reducing inflammation and hardening of the arteries and regulating blood pressure and immune responses. Furthermore, inflammatory conditions including arthritis, allergies, autoimmune conditions, asthma, IBD, eczema, and food sensitivities can be reduced or prevented through the use of healthy fats. During the dry winter season, they can keep hair and skin and soft tissues lubricated and moist to prevent dryness and cracking. Omega 3 oils such as fish oil, have specifically shown to improve mood, cognitive function, and inflammatory conditions. Several studies have indicated that omega 3 fats are particular beneficial during pregnancy and lactation as they are crucial in central nervous system development of newborns and infants. In fact several studies have shown improvements in concentration, focus, motor skills and even intelligence associated with high omega 3 consumption. Perhaps most striking of all is the mounting evidence showing regular consumption of healthy fats such as omega 3 and omega 9 significantly reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke
