Dashboard Dining
With school finished until the fall and summer in full swing, it’s likely that you’re packing the car for a road trip. Chances are you have your route fully Map-Quested or you’ve plugged your destination into your GPS to get you where you want to go as quickly as possible. But have you also pre-planned your dashboard dining food options?
A little pre-planning will ensure that you will feel great and have energy to enjoy your trip. Get Fitlicious with these healthy travel tips!
  • Pack a cooler with easy-to-eat fresh items like baby carrots, broccoli, red pepper or cucumber slices, apples, cherries or grapes.
  • Yogurt or cottage cheese cups come preportioned as great protein options. I love adding a scoop of whey protein isolate and a shot of my favorite Banana Crème Fitlicious Flavour Blaster to make an on-the-go, deliciously fit meal.
  • Be sure to have a travel plug-in cooler or plenty of ice for the food to stay safe.
  • Non-perishable snacks like single serving apple sauce cups, protein bars, whole food granola bars, mini rice cakes or natural trail mix are great options to have on hand, rather than chips, chocolate or candies.
  • If you opt to cruise through the drive–thru, then your figure-friendly options are lean wraps, salads, or sandwiches made with grilled chicken, turkey or tuna. Opt for mustard, not mayo or other high-fat sauces. Even better, have a fully-balanced meal in the form of a fresh fruit smoothie or protein shake. The kids will love the refreshing, yummy taste and your glutes will thank you for thinking of them. And lastly, bring plenty of water and enjoy your summer cruising!
