Easy changes anyone can make to improve your health!
Be a Fathead. Your brain is 60% fat. It needs plentiful essential fatty acids, especially the important omega 3’s.
In fact, all the cells of your body need them as well, because the cell
|
membranes are made of beneficial fats. Healthy membranes = healthy
cells = healthy body. Eliminate all processed, heat-treated, trans and damaged fats because
these interfere with the proper functioning of your body. Use instead a variety of unrefined
oils including flax oil, Udo’s oil, unrefined coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, unrefined
sesame oil, and other unrefined oils.
Butter It Up. Margarine is like plastic fat – no matter how much the media tries to convince us otherwise.
Butter is better. Butter is a naturally saturated, short chain fatty acid that is easy to digest.
Naturally occuring aturated fats in moderation, in the presence of unrefined omega 3 fatty
acids, are a big improvement. Enjoy!
White Out. White sugar robs your body of vitamins and minerals. Replace it with sucanat - the whole
juice of sugarcane, dried. It works just like sugar in your baking, though it makes baked goods
a bit darker because it contains important minerals and nutrients.
Aged… Naturally. White vinegar is manufactured to contain 5% acetic acid. However, aging naturally takes time
and results in numerous important benefits. Replace white vinegar with naturally aged
apple cider vinegar (not apple cider flavoured vinegar). It’s full of minerals and has many
helpful properties. It helps to balance your body’s pH, reduce inflammation and acidify
the stomach for more complete digestion of proteins. Substitute it for white vinegar, and
enjoy the benefits.
Re-Mineralize. A very easy change that is important and beneficial is switching to whole, mineralrich
salt such as Celtic sea salt, Le Paludier, Himalayan, Eden, or others that provide
minerals that your body is desperately seeking. Look for grey to pink salt: these contain up
to 65 different minerals in trace amounts. Try the delicious soup recipe below. It’s full of
important and hard-to-find minerals from organic beans, vegetables, spices, real salt and
three types of sea vegetables - 2 you add and one in the Eden beans!
Don’t Be a Guinea Pig. The average person is eating 5 to 7 pounds of food additives every single year. These
additives are minimally tested for safety, but are not tested in the combinations in which
we consume them. Eating them makes you into a guinea pig! Choose real food with no
added chemicals: no preservatives, colours, artificial flavors, stabilizers, dough conditioners,
and more.
No Wheat?...No Way!!! How can we live without wheat? Think about it! Most of us consume wheat morning,
noon, night and in between. But wheat has been changed to benefit food producers (not
you!) and has become very difficult to digest. Substitute spelt flour for wheat flour in all of
your cookies, muffins, loaves, pancakes and more.
Treat Yourself... But Do It Right.Everyone needs a treat now and then. Skip the
candy, chocolate bars, and sugary treats that undermine your health. Most chocolate bars
are high in sugar, dairy, and processed fats. Replace them with real organic dark chocolate
with 70% to 99% cocoa content. High quality dark chocolate is full of antioxidants, minerals
and especially magnesium, and it’s a source of fibre.
