Start Building Up Your Immune System
It's the season to get sick – NOT!!! Start building up your immune system now to help your body fight off colds and flus. I always like to start with diet. Eliminate all sugar. (1 tsp. of sugar can compromise the immune system for up to 12 hours!) Eat lots of vegetables, soups, broths and herbals teas or water (warm or hot
with freshly squeezed lemon). Complex carbohydrates and lots of lean protein provide excellent nourishment and help fuel the body.

Participate in a moderate exercise program 3-5 times per week. Incorporating some other healing activities into your daily routine is always helpful. Some of these include deep breathing, castor oil packs (over the abdomen/liver area), dry skin brushing, lots of rest, positive thinking and just taking a little time each day for yourself.

There are many immune-boosting herbs/supplements that are extremely helpful for fighting off colds. The best thing is to be aggressive. The moment you feel that scratchy throat or runny nose you need to remember that your body has already been fighting it for 24-48 hours. You can do more to help our body. Take action immediately! Take Ferr Phos every fifteen minutes to half an hour. Use lots of Vitamin C (to bowel tolerance), Echinacea or anti-viral, and lots of aged garlic extract every two hours until you see an improvement, then every four hours for a day or two more. Take a hot bath with Epsom salts or some lavender oil in it. Get to bed early. This is extremely important. Some excellent teas to help with colds are Echinacea/Elderberry, Bija Cold Stop, ginger tea, licorice tea, etc.

Other supplements that are helpful in building immunity include Biostrath, B complex, Deep Immune Combo by St. Francis Herbs, Mineral Matrix, selenium, zinc/zinc lozenges, vitamin A, fish oil, Cold FX, acidophilus, oil of oregano and homeopathy such as thymuline, R87 (bacterial infections), R88 (viral infections), Cold Complex. Adaptogenic herbs are also helpful which include Astragulus, Ashawaganda, Siberian Ginseng, Licorice Root and Schizandra.

Our staff are well acquainted with all of these remedies and would be happy to help put together a program for you!!! Enjoy a healthy, happy holiday season!
