Fit…or Fat?
The growing trend towards obesity stops right here! The time to do something is now, and that something is a return to whole, nutritious foods and a balanced lifestyle that restores, rather than undermines, our metabolic system. A healthy metabolism – the term used collectively for

all of the physical and chemical reactions that occur in the body – is the key not only to weight management, but also to energy, vitality, and wellbeing.
Refined, high-calorie, low-nutrient foods and super-sized portions surround us, but here at Goodness Me! you’ll find an abundance of healthy and delicious whole foods that nourish and satisfy.
Here are seven guiding principles to restore balance and set you on the right path:
Water
The body’s most essential nutrient! When we think we feel hungry we might actually be thirsty: Drink one or two glasses of water, wait 20 minutes, and see if you are truly hungry. Ensure you take in plenty of pure water throughout the day.
Nutrients
We have forgotten that nutrients are the other important reason, besides enjoyment, that we eat! Our health is directly affected by the foods we eat – or don’t eat. Fresh whole foods are your best bet for boosting nutrition. Your metabolism depends on these nutrients! Choose organic whenever possible - start with our great deal on Organic Bananas available only to email customers!
Fiber
I call fiber your “free fill-up”: you feel full sooner (so you are less likely to overeat), you are satisfied longer, and your elimination improves – all keys to steer you towards fit, rather than fat. Boost your fiber with vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds, as well as fiber supplements.
Essential Fats
The right fats are extremely important for healthy weight, as well as for wellbeing. Refined, processed fats have to go. Choose instead Omega 3 oils from fish, fresh nuts, and flax; unrefined coconut oil; extra virgin olive oil; and CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) to help combat abdominal fat. The healing fats boost metabolism and restore cellular integrity.
Insulin Control
Control insulin resistance. Years of over-consuming carbohydrates have made us oversensitive to them: we produce excess insulin in response, and insulin is our fat-storing hormone. If you have abdominal fat, trim your carbohydrates (but include the beneficial ones, such as non-starchy vegetables and legumes) and add chromuim, alpha lipoic acid, cinnamon, and glyco-balancing herbs to your fiber-rich diet high in essential fatty acids.
Exercise
Get moving! Exercise is key to balancing the intake and expenditure of calories. It also builds muscle, which burns more calories than fat.
Detoxification
Though this is a process your body does all the time without you thinking about it, the capacity of the body’s detoxification processes is not endless. Assist it through herbs such as milk thistle or burdock, through spices such as rosemary or tumeric, through fibre supplements and probiotics for intestinal health, and so much more. Create an internal environment in which you can stay healthy.
Fit or fat? The choice is truly yours: you can begin today!
